Professional drivers should also be more aware of breaking the law in the first place shouldn't they???

This guy should've had his driving license removed long ago.

Why have the LA not removed is taxi drivers license?

I don't suppose you ever go over the legal speed limit?

Very rarely to be honest and when I do I'm a little more observant as regards to cameras etc.

If these drivers can't keep their law breaking in check then they should at least have the common sense to ease up a bit if they get to around 9 points.

My license is clean and I've been hackneying for 15 years point free.

19 points translates into perhaps 6 or 7 little driving indiscretions over 3 years. Now take into consideration the amount of miles this guy has covered over the same period and now compare that with your average driver.

I think the average driver checks, very carefully, his speed when he gets to 9 points.

If he is stupid enough to then get another 10 points, then in my view he should lose his license.

Not neccessarily it is so easy to miss some of these camera vans especially the ones operated by private companies which are not very clearly marked and when it is a busy night most cabbies put their foot down a bit

I've also got a clean driving license but I don't know a cab driver that stays within the speed limit on any road or motorway, every day they work?

If any cab driver came on here and said they adhere to the national speed limits religiously on a daily basis, I would find it hard to believe.

If any of you guys are without sin when it comes to speeding then cast the first stone.

JD

You been to Plymouth lately? wanna try speeding down here, it aint that easy around town.

Look, this guy had plenty of chances, why should he keep his license?

Going on the article it said he'd already been allowed to keep his license at 14 points, FFS, why couldn't he just learn his lesson at that point???

Quote:
Instead they dished out another five points, bringing the total to a whopping 19

You've never gone over 30 in a 30 mph zone Jimbo? lol

Or maybe 75 on the Motorway, or perhaps 44 in 40 zone?

I was once pulled over by a copper for doing 30 in a 30 zone. He said to me why are you driving so slow, work that one out?

Regards

JD

I have never gone over 30 in a 30 zone. Call me a liar and I may sue. I may not, if you can provide evidence that I have, though. I was once pulled over in a Metrocab, with passengers in, for not wearing a seatbelt.

I know a guy who was pulled over for driving in a bus, cycle and Taxi lane.

Needless to say, it just goes to show that no one is perfect and if you drive through a speed camera doing 35 in a 30 at 5 am in the morning when there is no one on the road, then you just might get flashed even though you're driving perfectly safely.

Ironic isn't it. I've seen people driving at slow speeds who are far more of a hindrance than someone driving over the speed limit so you don't get any Brownie points for religiously adhering to the speed limit because it just might be you who is that hindrance?

Regards

JD

If I could even get my cab up to 75 I'd be over the moon.

"Brownie points?" Would they be Dominic Brownie points?

Anyway. The question is, should a taxi driver be allowed to continue to work as a taxi driver when they have managed to pick up three fixed penalty tickets for exceeding the 30 mph limit 9 points. and one court appearance for 46 mph in a 30mph limit for 5 points, and a second court appearance for careless driving, 5 points? (Should I mention here that some of these fines remain unpaid on Mr Brown's own admittance?) In a period of less than three years?

One endorsement, unlucky.

Two endorsements, very unlucky. Time to slow down?

Three endorsements, must be jinxed.

Four/five endorsements, time to buy a pedicab?

In my view no.
