Well I can tell you now that GBC will point out that there are two sides to London - one is blacker than black, the other whiter than white, end off.

And I'm not alluding to race here, but I'm sure GBC could manage it.

Twice a year is becoming the norm, accept in London? lol

I just wonder when London will play catch up?

That's interesting - I thought it was going the other way - isn't the private car MOT proposed to move to every two years?

In Fife we're still on one year tests for the trade, despite some cars probably having done 300-400,000 or so.

I think Dundee is still only yearly as well unless the car is five years old or more.

We only have a one year test in the borders, but I do not know why we have to test a brand new car strait from the showroom.
As long as the car is a 1.4 or above and has 4 doors, and is under 7 years old , it will be licenced.

Our LO sends us love letters, saying he would love to see us within a certain time slot, and if you do not attend he will find you.
He does this every 3 months without fail, he does not call all of us in at once but a certain number so he will have checked everyone in the 3 month cycle and no one gets away.
Its a good thing that he informs us when he wants to see us, as this gives us time to make sure every thing is OK and if it ain't your red carded until the problem is fixed and its your own fault.

Sounds a bit different from the norm - so is it a full test every three months?

Your later post is saying that it's a once a year test?

By the way, the DfT's best practice guidance seems to lean toward annual testing:

Frequency of Tests. The legal requirement is that all taxis should be subject to an MOT test or its equivalent once a year. For PHVs the requirement is for an annual test after the vehicle is three years old. An annual test for licensed vehicles of whatever age (that is, including vehicles that are less than three years old) seems appropriate in most cases, unless local conditions suggest that more frequent tests are necessary. However, more frequent tests may be appropriate for older vehicles (see 'age limits' below).
