If the owners don't like the condition they could always do a stockport and challenge it in court.

60% including me object.

But methinks the council will do it.

Whatever the merits of the ruling, they should at least allow a proper transitional period so that cars can be run for a reasonable economic life without needing resprayed.

Mind you, if the picture is recent, then perhaps it's no wonder some are complaining - isn't that a Cavalier at the front?

Couldn't help noticing the name of the firm of solicitors advertising on the site either - Harrowell Shaftoe.

Well, at least they're honest

That situation happened here 13 years ago.

thats the point, people have taken the mickey out of the council for too long,we currently have a "j" registered merc and a "K" reg sierra operating, two people having recently paid a fortune to buy a plate turned up to be tested in a P reg nissan primera tthe average age of hackneys in york is 7.9 years and I am afraid the tossers who still have the motto "they cant do that" will have to realse that they can.

Stockport council wanted hackney carriage owners to paint their vehicles green and display the council crest. It went to court and the council decision was deemed unreasonable and had costs awarded against them.

If they feel aggrieved York owners should do the same.

Aubrey Issaacson of Prestwhich Manchester acted for Stockport cabbies, give him a ring if you feel lucky?

JD.

That's certainly old for a saloon fleet.

But, of course, restricted numbers and plate premiums = high standards. [-(

mmmm. general idea going around is what will be, will be, whatever the Council say, can't see a fight being put up [as usual by York taxi's], the word dereg frightens everyone so just go with the flow and accept those who know best [the Council]

now on my travels through town today I see something that i have not seen for a long time, York Station taxis sporting magnetic door plates advertising as York Stn taxis, [looks cheap]
the Council Logo was sported a few years ago by York Stn Taxis who took over another taxi firm [hack company, York Taxis, who went bust]
it was then deemed that permission was not sort from the Council to use the coat of arms, the Council did not like this and was not happy, now here we are a few years down the line, taxi drivers have put thoughts into the Councils mind, hey we got a good idea, lets have York coat of arms on the taxis

The full Council meeting to decide is on Friday 8th June, how come that paper work we got the other week to fill in with our thoughts has to be in by 15 June, so its cut and dried

you will have noticed that the paperwork from the council to which we fill in has nothing to state who sent it in, no name or address, so that will go in the rubbish bin

You would not get York owners to contribute to a kitty to raise money to take them to court, Gerald Grisdale compiled a reopt to the OFT which saved the day for every hackney owner in york, it took him over 300 hours and he asked every owner for £35 out of the 158, only 61 paid him they want all but are willing to give nothing.

I very much doubt if it was Gerald Grisdale who saved the day re OFT, so not money well spent, or his own time well spent.

Gerald Grisdale used to be a York Hack, now retired and think moved out of the area, as well as being an engineer and accountant in the past, his favoured subject was mathamatics

he pulled the OFT report to bits due to all the total figures being seriously flawed, i am led to believe, he was asked to go down to the Goverment department to discuss it all, whether he did or not i don't know
