Up here its usually the same deal every time. bit vague about where they're going, pull up at phone box (even though they have mobiles), park up a hundred yards from where they score, tenner left on dash, back in 2 minutes with a better attitude and back to where you got them.
Rarely any bother (they want to score, not get lifted or p*ss of their source). usually get 1 or 2 a night. They dont say what their up to and I dont ask.

If the people you are ferrying about are that obviously dealing should the Police choose to act then unless you pass this kind of information on then you are just as likely as the "driver" to be party to it and seen as "aiding and abetting"; and if you are allowing drugs to be dealt in/ from you cab you stand to get a longer PRISON term. Use the Crimestoppers number FFS its anonymous. Get the dealers out of our cabs and make them safer for everyone. I personally don't want to be the one, as will happen, that gets stuck by a needle left in the back of a cab .................................

Someone we all know was attacked with a needle and stabbed numerous times with it when he tried to fight off an attack.

The effect of the whole incident has had an effect on this persons whole life .......................... and the scum that did it was wanted for a crime far greater than attacking a taxi driver.

Well today I was attacked for the second time in six months and i've decided enough is enough. Luckily not injured but its the whole attitude of the authorities towards it that just makes me think what is the point anymore. Phoned the cops and was told it wasn't a priority and i'd be better off going to the cop shop to report it. Went in and was told that if I didn't have a witness it was a waste of everybodys time. Thanks again Strathclyde Police.

After insisting I wanted to make a report the police guy went and found a bit of A4 and wrote down the details of what happened, no official report sheet, no crime number given, nothing.
Gave the name and description of the attacker, his address and was informed he was well known to them and if they went to speak to him he would deny it, so it would be a waste of their resources. Was then helpfully informed that they only have 4 squad cars for a population of 120,000 and they had two big operations on at the moment. That is obviously my fault and I shouldn't be so inconsiderate as to be the victim of a crime at such a busy time for them.

On the previous occasion I was attacked by 8 youths and had my car damaged, again no priority but at least on that occasion they filled out a proper crime report, just a pity they managed to lose it by the time I phoned back the next day.

Advice today from police was that unless I have corroborating witnesses to anything that happens when I am out working in my car then there is no point in reporting it as they can't do anything unless the perpetrator decides to pop in and confess his sins. Decided to ask about protecting myself in the car at which stage the officer decided to ask me if I had any offensive weapons in the car. I have a few dodgy CD's that may be termed offensive to good musical taste but amazing how they suddenly became interested in me.

Added to this the fact that I was hit in a hit and run about 18 months ago and when I went in to give regi details of the van was told it did not exist, despite regularly seeing the same vehicle most days since what is the point.

Tony Blair's legacy. Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime - MY A$$E. Tough luck if you are law abiding, protection if you are not more like.

You're clearly picking up the wrong people.

You're clearly frequenting the wrong area.

You're clearly working the wrong hours.

Hell, you gotta get more streetwise. Don't be so desperate. Don't be so trusting.

Look, cabbying is the closest you're ever going to get to showbusiness. Enjoy it.

Pick up nice folks. That's only around 99.9% of guys and gals who use taxis. Learn the ropes. Blank the pratts.

Bet you wish you'd stuck in at school eh?

What a load of rubbish your talking there Jasbar, your blaming the victim for being a victim of crime in an indirect way!

You're clearly picking up the wrong people.

You dont always have the choice

You're clearly frequenting the wrong area.

Do you always have a choice

You're clearly working the wrong hours.

Which are the right hours

Hell, you gotta get more streetwise. Don't be so desperate. Don't be so trusting.

What do any of the above have to do with being assaulted at your work?

Look, cabbying is the closest you're ever going to get to showbusiness. Enjoy it.

He probably would be able to enjoy it if he had not been assaulted twice and had his vehicle damaged.

Pick up nice folks. That's only around 99.9% of guys and gals who use taxis. Learn the ropes. Blank the pratts.

Again you assert that he needs to "learn the ropes" so he can blank the pratts, what a load of rubbish.

Bet you wish you'd stuck in at school eh?

Nope, but you can bet the rest of us wished you had!

Jasbar, while I am all for free speech it would help if you had stuck in at school and learned to read everything and find out facts before making assumptions and comments :
Quote:
You're clearly picking up the wrong people

This attack was perpetrated by 2 normal looking punters

You're clearly frequenting the wrong area

I picked them up from the local museum, hardly the crack den of the town

You're clearly working the wrong hours

If you'd read on a bit you would have discovered this had happened at Saturday lunchtime

By the time these guys had shown their true colours I was off the beaten track and made a decision to take them to their destination where there was a better chance of possible witnesses, unfortunately no one was about. Its about making a judgement call and not inflamng the situation further than in necessary

Absolutely f&&k you Jasbar, I have a degree in Accounting, you know nothing about my personal circumstances and why I moved into taxiing in the first place.
Well done though in stereotyping drivers in the same bigoted, mindless way that the punters do - we're obviously all just knuckle draggers who can't get another job. As the Chinese would say - Jasbar you are a plick !

You seem to have upset a forum member there Jim.

I would say though that in over two decades of being one of the worlds finest, I've never suffered anything like the above, or any of the invented 'Tigger' scenarios ever, and it would be fair to say London contains some of the biggest sheite holes in Britain.

Then again that's why god created the London Minicab trade. :D
