Grandad my car doesnt smell like an ash tray, In 3 and a half years of doing this job i have had only 1 complaint about the smell of smoke in my PH car, by three moaning women, they were very close to being ejected from my car. the next ones wont be so lucky, they will be OUT.
What about the smell i have to endure off smelly customers ie old people smelling of wee, garlic, stale beer and yes stale smoke.

Thats probably because as a smoker yourself you can't smell it. Like pig farmers can't smell pig [edited by admin], but everyone else can.
Excellent customer service that! Anyone who complains gets thrown out. I hope the next one is your local enforcement officer.

Your providing a Service which means the public has a right to a clean, smoke free transportation service whether its bus train or taxi

its fact that smokers cant smell the smoke
generally British people dont complain about these things

Its also fact that Smokers are ignorant of the smell etc they are creating.
I wouldnt expose my kids to it and so why should Passengers that get in your cab

If you want to smoke in your car perhaps you should consider a new career.

mind you they could have had smoking / non smoking cabs with clear signs then the passenger(s) could have a choice whether they wanted a smoke free cab.

You would have to live in a free country for that! I don't think freedom of choice is a concept this government understands 8)

Could someone tell me how many poeple have died because of being in a vehicle that a fag was smoked in an hour ago with the window open?
It's NO different than someone coming out to work after having a smoke with their brekkie and having the smell of smoke on their clothes.
I get complimented of the cleanleness/freshness of my vehicle all the time and i smoke.

And the police wont enforce it either (according to every copper ive spoken to), it's down to local environmental wardens who must be in uniform and have no powers of arrest, so they better have plenty of film in their cameras!

no one really knows how many people have died through smoking related illnesses impossible!!!
Look at it from a non smokers preference. again you may smoke out of the window but the smoke still stays
maybe it is Smokers that compliment you on the freshness of your cab

In Gosport Plain clothed wardens will patrol the area.!

That may be the case up your way, and down our way if they want to stop a taxi, but most LOs work down here is via the taxi ranks and PH waiting areas.

So if the cars are parked up it doesn't matter.

It's the same everywhere "policeman in uniform" and all that, thats why a plain clothes copper will radio for a plod to stop you.
An LO can approach you parked up, but ony a uniformed copper can stop you.
Thats why spot checks are carried out with coppers as well as the inspectors.

Yes only a uniformed police officer can stop you, and if they are improperly dressed, IE without there helmet or hat, they cannot.

gusmac your link works but you cannot gain access to read anything

they dont have to stop you, they just need to catch you smoking in your car and bang!
