Can I take this point about who can drive a licensed vehicle along a slightly different path for a moment?
Can a police office drive a licensed vehicle when the driver has been arrested?

 all he could done is to call me and I would have sort it out, however he called to ask for compansation wich I was happy to do a refund for the trip but he wanted more money or he take it futher so he did ( even when he accpeted the refund and took it ).
as Far as the firm concerned we did every thing we possibley could to make him happy but greed is not good.
feel free to ask me any thing as I have nothing to hide.

Welcome Mr Hazcars.

I suspect two or three questions spring to mind, how did you come across Taxi driver online?

The second question which I suppose everyone is wondering about, is why was an uninsured passenger allowed to drive a licensed Taxi vehicle and has this offence caused you any problems with the local licensing department?

Regards

JD

Welcome aboard.

I'm interested in your views concerning the issue of whether or not a person should be driving a cab at that time of night when he has been working all day. :?

I hope he got a discount!

No seriously, is it still hire & reward if he doesn't pay for the bit he drove?

Whether it is hire and reward doesn't matter does it. If the vehicle was a licensed vehicle then the driver would need to be badged to drive it. There is a thread on here about a mechanic getting done isn't there?

I think the law up here is different. Spouses regularly drive taxis for social/domestic purposes. No paying passengers though!

So what was the complainant's position on driving the vehicle?

And what did officialdom say about it?

Very interesting as down here a cab is always a cab, and a PH is always a PH.

So no matter what it is being used for the driver needs a taxi/PH license, other than by a proper mechanic.

An Aberdeen council document from a couple of years ago said that the official view was that this was illegal, but that no action should be taken until the position was clarified by the Scottish Executive.

I never did finish reading the report (123 pages  ), but I do remember that bit.
