You should have got a form from your council when you applied fo your badge/licence.

If your going to do School Contracts most councils ask for an enhanced crb check. Ours want one that is less than 6 months old when you apply for a contract. That is you and any driver you have working for you.

From memory you want to license as a small PSV, so that basically means no CRB. Maybe if you did some un-paid voluntary work a charity would CRB you.

But methinks times are a changing, and I wouldn't be surprised if the DfT make an ammendment to the Draft Transport Bill which will lead to all PSV drivers needing a Enhanced CRB check, all arranged through the Traffic Commissioner.

And the TC will be able to say no to some people who currently work in the Limo industry.

This is the problem you can basicly only get a CRB check if you intend on working for one of these type of authorities that are working with children or vulnerable people, there are 2 types of CRB though, 1 is standard and the other is enhanced, someone please correct me if im wrong here but you can go to your local police stn and get information regarding getting hold of records which the police may or may not hold against you. I went to our main police stn in town sometime ago and was able to do this! If you go for council licensing though you will get a crb check to boot but im aware you are going down the vosa route. Im aware that vosa do ask if you have any criminal record but im not sure how they check this. I'm just being honest with you here!!

Having a CRB check will not prove that you are safe to work with children. It will only show that you have had a check carried out. Unless the person that you want to show the CRB to is qualified and registered to see it, they can't legally even see it.
I have a mate who recently had an enhanced CRB check because he was going to apply to the council for a PH badge. He then decided to get a pub which required a standard CRB check. He took his enhanced check to the licensing officer and she nearly flipped when he passed it to her and she told him that she was not qualified to look at it and he would need to get a standard check done.

Beurocracy.
