we know mate, we all have our crosses to carry. as you can see we have JD.

lol. You don't really mean that, do you?

On a more serious note there is more to this story than meets the eye therefore it might be wise if everyone didn't jump to too many conclusions until all the facts have been presented.

My intention was to do a story on this incident but having spent several days digging out the facts I came to a dead end when neither of the two parties involved in the incident would comment.

I did manage to speak to a member of the Victims family and they were very helpful. The problem I have is that one side of a story is insufficient to present a balanced view. There are too many questions that remain unanswered therefore for the time being this particular investigation is put on the back burner.

What I can say is that contrary to the original report I have been informed by a family member that the alleged victim Mr Middleton was not assaulted by six attackers in fact I was informed he was only assaulted by one individual that being the driver of the Private hire car. I was also informed by University Hospital Stoke that Mr Middleton was never admitted to the Intensive care unit. He was actually admitted to the high dependency unit.

It has come to my attention that the Private hire driver involved in the incident also attended the same accident and emergency unit as Mr Middleton where it is understood the Private hire driver was involved in a scuffle with friends of Mr Middleton.

In my investigations I was offered an alternative description of events where it was put to me that Mr Middleton was taken to the Cash dispenser at Tescos in order to obtain money for the fare however that version is disputed by the member of the family who I spoke to.

There are other details that aren't appropriate to mention at this moment in time but the driver concerned has not had his license suspended.

Two men have been interviewed over the incident and released on police bail.

Mr Middleton received a fractured cheek bone and other injuries consistent with assault.

Regards

JD

Sounds like you spent quite some time on this, JD. The effort is appreciated :) . Lets just hope the truth comes out in court. Do we know if anyone has been charged in connection with the incident?
