North Somerset has had a dsa test for a long while.

Wish they would do a p/h knowlegde to down here. got in a p/h the other day and I had to guide him all the bloody way. Good job it was fixed fair took him on a 25 min drive for a 5 min journey to see if he had ANY idea.

just drove and took the instruction :(:( when we arrived he siad "I must ask the office to update the fare on this one it is very cheap for the distance" wtf!!!
I did say "No dimwit learn your way around"
He still did not get it

does a DSA driving test make them better drivers ?

i know how i drove a car to pass my driving test, but never drove like that again !!

did the same for my PSV for the hour or so, got past test, and never drove like that since

so what is the reason for this test or is it just a hurdle to make it difficult and more expensive to get in the trade.

becaise i dont think they will drive to the standards of the test ever again once they have past it !!

but hackneys may be kept happy by knowing it stops the p/h industry growing as quickly !

I would like to see a DSA examiner be told to drive a taxi for a week on nightshift and drive to the standards that he preaches  .I wonder what he would be like after that experience :-k

THEY LIVE IN CUCKOO LAND and we live in reality!!!

And that's a good example of why I would love London Minicabs to be fitted with mandatory meters.

The industry would collapse within a few months as customers found themselves paying twice what the real London Taxi trade charge.

The PH all have meters here. Rare is same as the hacks. Drivers have the same knowledge test as well. It fairly keeps the jokers out

It may effect a few, but could lead to them having a price war which would leave them being very cheap compared to you.

if only we could stop throwing knives at one another !

When we all start agreeing and understand we all carry people from A to B for money we might stand a chance , but the councils know we are to busy back stabbing one other between the hackneys and the private hire that they win every time.

the term "divide and conquer" must of come from our trade i guess ?

Well, yes, but it's generally the councils' rules that cause strife in the trade in my experience.

I mean, it's one rule for some, and another rule for others.

And no rules at all for the limos
