Second taxi operation refused

The Bolton News

A TAXI operator has again been refused permission to run a second vehicle from his home in Middle Hulton.

Salim Atcha was granted a certificate of lawfulness by Bolton Council in January, 2006, to use his house in Newstead Drive as a taxi office for one car.

He was refused permission to run a second taxi from the house during the day in April and has now had a renewed application to use an extra vehicle for school contracts refused.

The council's planning and highways committee turned down the plan on a 10-7 vote, despite a 17-signature petition of support from neighbours. Cllr Laurie Williamson said: "This would set too much of a precedent in a residential area and would have repercussions across the town."

So it would be alright to park his car outside his house unless he puts a plate on it? :?

I keep 2 plated vehicles at my house some of the time but they are hackney so planning not neccessary although my neighbour still tried to create a fuss about it cause it meant he had to keep both his cars on his drive instead of sticking one on the pavement up against my drive !

The thing was he had been wrongly advised that it was illegal to park two taxis outside the same house only need planning for PH if the house is also the base
