I have had a problem with another driver who once worked for my firm over the last 10 months there have been a couple of really abusive outbursts at the start followed by 9 months of v signs comments shouted out of his car window at me The council enforcement officer insists that the council cannot get involved or take any action the police say that a harrassment diary must be kept and that they can only act on that evidence I'm sure if the council had given him some sort of warning about his future conduct he wouldn't do it but they won't

Today my temper snapped and I shouted back at him and tried to drag him out of his car so now of course I face losing my badge despite the fact that i was provoked is there any sort of law against what amounts to bullying ?

I suspect he informed the council and the police that you assaulted him. Are there any witnesses to the incident?

Loads it was at a crowded taxi rank ! However many of those drivers are aware of the history of provocation

Speak to a solicitor and try and get an injunction against him.

Would a court be able to issue an injunction? Surely you would need the same sort of evidence that the police require. Can a court effectivly ban someone from working, assuming they both work the same ranks? I think the co-operation of the other drivers that work the ranks will be needed but that may be more difficult than it sounds.

A court can do many things, but banning someone from working is a tad extreme.

But a court can lay down an order that cabby A isn't rude/causes harassment to cabby B.

Anyone can get an injunction, however it's usually as useful as a wet paper bag. Powers of arrest are not attached unless it's related to a history of violence in domestic circumstances.

Not good, but has he actually reported you - he might have just learnt his lesson.

But at least you've been in contact with the authorities before the incident, and you have witnesses to the driver's provocation, so if action is taken against you then this should work in your favour.

Update

The licensing officer has ignored all communication and decided not to even talk to any of the parties involved as far as I know. On the plus side the other driver has finally decided to leave me alone and started ignoring me which is in my book a RESULT

Edders .............. bullies are cowards ............. show the spineless that your not intimidated (or in your case that your willing to confront them) and they will not want to bully you.

Same on forums, where bullies like to hide behind anonymity.
