Can you clarify why you were there Garry? You aren't an owner of any part of the LLP's who were applying, you aren't even a resident of the City of Edinburgh, and certainly don't pay them council tax - so on what basis were you entitled to speak :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k

You were just there to "rip the p*ss" - and you seem surprised to be asked to leave - unprofessional and childish don't begin to describe your actions

That is an interesting question, and for once I'm not taking the pi**.

In my view the answer is most certainly yes.

Not for any financial gain any application might receive via his own plate, but because there is no good reason why any properly qualified licensed driver shouldn't be able to have his own licensed cab, without having to pay someone up to £100,000 for something those folks got for f*** all.

Some things are worth fighting for, and the fact some chap has been binned off the firm he worked with just because he wanted the same opportunities as others, is also a big fat reason to fight the status-quo.

And maybe the final reason for fighting is the attitude of councillors, LOs, elements of the existing trade, etc who think it's a fine thing to treat drivers like this.

Cos IMO it aint.

It's not £100k at the moment, but it could be soon enough if the situation remains as it is.

He was there at our request. As is our right.

And what he witnessed was a complete negation of our political system, the abuse of power through failing to take anything on board which didn't suit the councillors or fit with their policy to deny licences and a refusal by councillors to ask any questions of them.

So, what we have is a system which does what it wants and doesn't have to explain itself.

That's why the court beckons again. My only fear is because of the survey the council is currently conducting, in secret I would venture, they will avoiud coming to court for their final reckoning. I hope I am wrong in this.

Yesterdays game was a farce. But it had to be played out.

Regrettably timescales likely now put a court hearing beyond the new year.

There's a lot of water to be flow under our bridge before then.

Look out for the council's announcement following its report of restriction due soon.

Well if you can't see how trying to make fools out of the councillors doesn't harm your fight then you don't deserve to win.

This council have been doing an excellent job of making fools of themselves and the legal process for years. The guy who lost his livelyhood had it taken from him by his company, not the council.

No not really.

I didn't say Edinburgh plates were changing hands at that rate, even if £50,000 is on the way up to £100,000.

My point was a general point re: plates, throughout the UK, and from what our good friend from Oxford says is that plates are changing hands at that rate there.

So bog off.

But you lot keep saying that he lost it because he applied for a license that you knew he wouldn't get and now you are taking the pi55 out of the council so he is even more unlikly to get it.

He lost his livelyhood because his company are a bunch of barstewards.
There wasn't a cat in hells chance that the council was going to grant his (or anyone elses ) plate. He knew he was going to have to go to court to get it, before he even applied.

Maybe so but I doubt that he knew that the skull was treating it all as a game for his own amusement and that he was just part of that game.

You're problem seems to be that you give blanket respect, even when it is not deserved. let's be quite clear, these guys are rogues. They're charged with representing the public when all they're really doing is representin themselves.

Colin Keir drives a bus FCS. You think he wants more taxis on the road?

Cllr Cardownie has just put on 50 PHC and he's the deputy leader of the council. You think he wants more taxis?

They are exercising their restriction policy which would be illegal in every other sector of our economy. You think these guys deserve respect?

So, you want me to play the lon sycophantic political game. And who do you think will support this? Play the game their way and you lose. Who wants to lose.
I have a right to a licence under the Act. That is being denied me. The Act allows me to apply and for the matter to be considered fairly. Yet, the decision is predetermined by council policy to restrict. This is fair? You want me to respect councillors who act unfairly?

You simply can't see the oppression even though the jackboot is grinding into your face. Grandad, this is war. It is a war waged until victory is ours. It will never go away. And I'm determined to ruin the political careers of those responsible. I will be pursuing this for a public inquiry. I will be writing this in book form which will be published on the internet at least.

No, I'm not angry. I'm fecking raging.

Jasbar you seem to have got me wrong. I fully support what you are trying to achieve. It is the method by which certain people are going about it that I find difficult to accept.
