You're problem seems to be that you give blanket respect, even when it is not deserved. let's be quite clear, these guys are rogues. They're charged with representing the public when all they're really doing is representin themselves.

Cllr Cardownie has just put on 50 PHC and he's the deputy leader of the council. You think he wants more taxis?

They are exercising their restriction policy which would be illegal in every other sector of our economy. You think these guys deserve respect?

So, you want me to play the lon sycophantic political game. And who do you think will support this? Play the game their way and you lose. Who wants to lose.
I have a right to a licence under the Act. That is being denied me. The Act allows me to apply and for the matter to be considered fairly. Yet, the decision is predetermined by council policy to restrict. This is fair? You want me to respect councillors who act unfairly?

You simply can't see the oppression even though the jackboot is grinding into your face. Grandad, this is war. It is a war waged until victory is ours. It will never go away. And I'm determined to ruin the political careers of those responsible. I will be pursuing this for a public inquiry. I will be writing this in book form which will be published on the internet at least.

They are exercising their restriction policy

Much like most councils restrict licenses for pubs, clubs, places of entertainment, saunas etc, even the NHS restrict licenses for dispensing chemists - you make out it's only taxi licenses that are restricted - classic TayLIAR being economical with the truth to suit your aims :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

In normal circumstances I would agree with you. These are not normal circumstances. This council and its officials have relinquished the right to be treated with respect. They operate a public body as a cartel, riding roughshot over everyone who wants only what is their right, for their own selfish ends. Respect is a two way street. How much respect have these people shown to those they were elected to serve or the law?

So they are identical to nearly every other council in England Scotland or Wales ! I gave up years ago trying to negotiate anything with our council they do as they please anyway and don't give a monkeys ****** for the livelihoods of the local cabbies most councillors treat bus drivers as saints and cabbies as sinners

This council have been doing an excellent job of making fools of themselves and the legal process for years. The guy who lost his livelyhood had it taken from him by his company, not the council.


But you lot keep saying that he lost it because he applied for a license that you knew he wouldn't get and now you are taking the pi55 out of the council so he is even more unlikly to get it.
He lost his livelyhood because his company are a bunch of barstewards.
There wasn't a cat in hells chance that the council was going to grant his (or anyone elses ) plate. He knew he was going to have to go to court to get it, before he even applied.


Maybe so but I doubt that he knew that the skull was treating it all as a game for his own amusement and that he was just part of that game.

Politicians know there are two things you don’t feck with in this country: One is the crown. The second is the political process. Even criminals know the rules of this game. We are all adhering to the rules of engagement. Nothing more and nothing less, it’s a very dirty game.

I can assure you that they think people like you are very naïve however well intentioned. In their world playing by their rules there are only winners and losers and people who have no idea how the game is played.

At a higher level people like this would roll into a country and destroy millions of lives for a few barrels of oil.

Grandad, consider this email I sent following our meeting with the council. Tell me how this squares with how you think I should be dealing with them.

Dear Cllr Whyte

I write to you as the leader of the Conservatives on City of Edinburgh Council.

I refer to the meeting of the Regulatory Committee at which my taxi operator's licence application was rejected by the councillors.

I contend that this decision was pre-determined and I lodge complaint with you specifically about Cllr Joanna Mowat as proof of this.

At the outset of my address Cllr Mowat nodded her head in disapproval and made exaggerated movements to demonstrate that disapproval. She then lowered her head as if she couldn't be bothered listening. My colleague drew her attention to this and invited her to make comment. She refused.

This is not conduct becoming of a councillor who was charged with determining whether a licence should be granted and is the clearest sign that my case was prejudiced and that, knowing what the outcome would be, it was a burden on her to have to go through the motions.

Cllr Mowat's conduct is not befitting the role of councillor that she is charged with.

Now tell me agian Grandad how I should respect these people. When she lowered her head onto her arms on the desk, did she deserve my respect?

Maybe she was scared to answer you jim incase she got a torrent of abuse because she didn`t say what you wanted to hear it wouldn`t be the first time would it do you really think your that important that they would sit in an office and discuss you before coming into the meeting you really are kidding yourself that your impotent.

Methinks you don't understand the first thing about abuse.

You don't think it is abuse to use the money I pay this council to deny me my right to a licence?

Or the fact that the council only considers the information it wants to "justify" its restriction policy?

Or than a councillor can fast track 50 PHC licences while everyone else is dragged through the court?

Or that a council lawyer can tell you that under section 10 (3) the onus is on the applicant to disprove the council's scant demand information? Then refuse to acknowledge that you've even refuted it?

Is this the way you believe a just, accountable democracy operates?

And when YOU Davina are hauled up before the Kangaroo court for a minor misdemeanour, you will consider it just for these councillors to deny you your right to a fair hearing, and will give you a second punishment, because they believe they can?

You've got to get your head out of your ass. Look at what's happening.

Why would I be dragged up to the council i don`t have a licence yet as for the rest of it thats only your belief and not neccaserily mines.
