We constantly read about Murders,Robberies,Stabbings & Assaults happening within the trade, but with very little being done about it.

I would propose that this forum starts keeping our own stats, we are from all over the country battling with the same problems. With information gleaned from our own local and national papers, we might just make someone wake up and get something done about it.

I do not claim to have the answer as to how this may be started, or to have the best ideas, or for that matter claim to know if anyone is interested. But! if you are.........

How about listing the paper concerned, the date, and of course the crime. In a very short space of time we would compile a substancial list of crimes committed against good hard working people.

There may be some who will claim that the stats are out there, but as far as I am concerned they might as well not be there - because they are not in your face and getting the attention that they should have.

Any well meaning thoughts on this please, or is it a non starter - I for one think that it has a place on here.

The general idea behind it is that, eventually we would have enough infomation to go along to a politician and say WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT". Because as it is, it is not acceptable that a man/woman cannot go to work and come home safely.

In a way that's what PHM has been doing in relation to driver deaths.

And it has had an effect, as many of us on here, and now in the press, know that 45 of us have been killed at work during the last 15 (I think) years.

I suppose someone could do a FoI act request to the Home Office asking how many of us have been attacked, or at least have reported an attack, in the last few years.

I just goggled 'taxi driver attack' on google uk and got 248,000 responses.

Yes I know, but as such it is not collated. What I am thinking is that drivers up and down the U.K could send in the latest reported crime.

It is only when you put it altogether that it will show how bad it is. At the moment it is dribs and drabs and the impact is lost, so it goes on and on and nothing gets done.

If this happened in some other type of work, everyone would be jumping up and down, but in our game it just seems to have been accepted.

I would propose the three topics of attack mentioned become sticky times three. Drivers report the given crime, and the stats could be updated to suit. The murders because they are more serious ( and there are less of them ) could be installed in full from day one.
