We have had 3 fuel rises in a week in the Borders, diesel is now £104.9, and unleaded 99.9.
What is the most economical diesel car out there as we do not have a gas outlet in the Borders, I need something that can do at least 45 mpg urban with plenty of room any suggestions :?: :?:

Well it should but then again someone has to pay for the lifestyle our MP's lead...and it looks like its the motorist.

What has happened to the protests for the extortionate price of fuel ?

Or who fancies organising one ?

Thanks for the info taxis,
Here is another thing that totally puzzles me, the government says that all vehicles that produce less CO2"s can benefit from reduced road tax, but have any of you ever read your emission test report, I have read mine over the years and they have always been half or less than the DVLA figures for that diesel vehicle, and given the fact that if you take 2 identical vehicles 1 diesel and 1 petrol from any manufacturer the diesel will always get about a third more miles per gallon, so therefor in my book a diesel is cleaner and greener than a petrol one, especially a modern one
So we are getting shafted not only by the government but the DVLA as well

The thing is now is are we going to get inflation spiralling out of control as a result of these rapid fuel price rises according to two of the local petrol stations crude oil is forcast to reach $100 a barrell by xmas which will equate to around 108/109p per litre at the pumps thats 10% in less than 3 months !
