I take £40.00 from the borders, 48 miles it is £56 on the meter, but due to the number of cabs here there is a lot of competition on out of area runs

I think Edinburgh Council know exactly what they are doing.

Thats strange then Skippy because the Scottish Borders are ranked at 195 in the private hire and taxi monthly, whilst the City of Edinburgh is ranked at 214th most expensive.

Well why does it cost a minimum of £80 for an Edinburgh cab to the borders, or I belive £90 from the airport

Its only our first mile that costs more, and every mile there after £1.30 and we do not go onto tariff 2 until midnight

Anyway it's not an out of area job Skippy it's a metered fare.

Because thats how the fares are worked out Skippy, go to page 108 of this Skippy and look at the National Average Tariffs, it's not rocket science you know.

By the way it's about 9-10 miles to the Airport and with the time component of the metered fare,call out charge etc, the £22 pound quoted by Liam Rudden is about spot on with the national average 10 mile tariff 2 fare costing £22.64 and the Average national average 10 mile fare on tariff 1 coming in at £17.14

Yes Skippy but each area has it's own fare formula, comparing one area with another doesn't really equate.

Well we do 18 miles on the meter at exactly £24.80, there is no call out charge and thats on tariff 2 £3.00 start 0.10p a click,
Why you require a call out charge is beyond me the cab could have been around the corner or even in the same street, if its on a radio circit, your going to get a fare anyway.
as for a 9 to 10 miler its £15.00 or under
