Why would any top manager with well earned respect and status within the game, want to take on such a poisoned chalice? With a press and public that not only wants but demands success and is ready to tear anyone who doesn't deliver to pieces.

Everything to lose and little to gain.

Martin o'neil is another one i think could do well

I should clarify i have no objections to a foreign coach its just that many of the names being touted have had NO experience of dealing with premiership players and that could be a major problem if they come in expecting to get premiership players to play Italian or Spanish style

What England needs is a manager who can get English players to play as well at International level as they can in the premiership and get the balance of the team right

I think that it is exactly the way to go i.e the Italian/Spanish way.

The English/British way has not worked well for over forty years.

Look at Arsenal and the way that they play, it has taken football to a new level - Arsene Wenger for me is the best in the world - Now that is the man to do the job.

it would take 20 years to change coaching techniques and instill that type of game into the players. English players are not taught to play that way which is why Wenger has an all foreign team

For how long? Unless he won the 2010 World Cup he would last little more than 2 years and much less if he had a couple of bad results. The likes of Wenger and Ferguson would make much more and more easily where they are.

Don't forget that the FA have to pay the FULL contracted wage to the manager if he is sacked. Sven is still being paid his salery and now McLaren will also be paid until his contact ends and there will be another wage to pay when the new manager is appointed. Do you know how the FA will raise the money to pay all these outragious saleries? The grass roots players are where the money comes from. You know the ones that play every Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. Every team must pay a fee to the FA to be able to play. Every time a player is cautioned or sent off they pay a fine to the FA. I was a referee for 10 years and i doubt that I sent in less than 3 cautions every week and a sending off at least twice a month, I would referee around 5 games a week. Now if the majority of referees were doing similar, that would be a very large sum of money towards paying for the England manager.
