Accused May Return To Region

MULTIPLE murder accused Neil Crampton may be transferred from top security Rampton Hospital to Durham's Frankland prison.

The 34-year-old taxi driver is charged with killing four members of a family at their home in Kenton, Newcastle.

His former partner Liz Sobo, 36 her daughter Abigail, 12, son Steven, five, and her brother Yemi, 41, were found stabbed to death last November.

Crampton, from Winlaton, Gateshead, has spent the last eight months being assessed at Rampton. But during a brief Newcastle Crown Court hearing, his barrister Jamie Hill QC said: "Mr Crampton's position has improved to a degree whereby the Home Office is considering returning him to Frankland." Judge David Hodson adjourned for reports until January 25th.
