From what I've seen of Grimsby these lads deserve a rise.

Taxi fares increasing as prices continue to rise

Taxi fares and driving instructors' fees in Grimsby are to rise as a result of rising fuel prices.

Taxi companies say they will have to increase their prices to meet the rising costs.

Chairman of the Hackney Carriage Association Dave Atkin said they have to apply to North East Lincolnshire Council to raise their fares.

The council confirmed a request for a 25 per cent increase had recently been approved.

Mr Atkin said: "It is costing drivers more. I don't think anybody will be surprised if all sorts of transport costs rise if these increases are sustained."

Gwen Bevers, manager of AA Taxis on Pasture Street, said tariffs had been upped by 10p.

And Links Taxis, based on Kent Street, confirmed it would be raising its prices, but said a figure had not yet been determined.

Lindsey Driving School has recently increased its charge for HGV training.

Driving instructor Angie Codling said she would be raising her prices after Christmas.

Driving school Fast Forward's fees will rise in January
