well so far tonight my drivers have done 1 job each in the last 2 hours !!!

and half of all the outer towners booked in for later have cancelled because at the last minute someone decided to forgo a drink and drive them to save money !!!!

I am beginning to think that we have a full blown recession on the town has been dead for the last week people might be spending money in the shops but they certainly ain't going out for a drink !

I'm more than certain there will be plenty of parties to keep your lads going.

I know that a number of drivers down here will not be starting until after mid -night, one club is going on till 9.30.am and another 10.30 am - they will be busy. Yours will happen.

Well tonight I started with a mad rush, went dead for 2 hours then slowly built up, then went like the clappers until now.
Our town clock was knackered so it did not chime so I pulled up along side of the expectant crowed that had gathered and turned the cab radio full blast with the windows open just as big Ben stated to chime on radio 2
2 Min's after had a £60 run out of the crowed, plus half a case of larger and £20 tip on top what a way to start the new year :D :D :P

Nice quiet run to Leeds tomorrow Afternoon :P :D :D

I'm pleased to report I heard Big Ben at 12 . . . noon today.

Work was steady, people were happy, and the trains to Stanstead and Heathrow were up the spout as per usual.

Thank you Network rail. :D

Well just back from, Leeds what a shambles that place is swarms of PH blocking the road outside the Mission night club took 20 mins to get 200 yards then another 30 Min's to get onto the ring road that was full of black and white saloon cabs, feck they look absolutely stupid having a black bonnet and boot what a waist of a good car, nearly all Mitsubishi's as well

Most of the PH where mobile sheds I wonder if they ever see a test or inspection anything from a fiesta mk3 to MP-V's feck I have seen better cars in the scrap yard and most where doing a Manchester but without the mush in the yellow just wish I had a video cam so I could have shown you

well by 01.30 am it was all done and dusted with about 40 taxis queing at the rank and from what i gather most of the clubbers walked home don't know about all the cars but 2 definitely took under £150 so for the 4th year in a row new year eve was quieter than a normal saturday night new years day was ok in the morning but very slow in the afternoon and dead at night

According to a few youngsters that were out on the town xmas eve it was a bit quiet which was why so many were phoning up trying to bring their bookings forward by 2 hours ! or cancelling all together !

Round here we are DEFINITELY in recession or is it just that the number of taxis working the town has Doubled in 8 years

I would say the fact that taxi numbers have doubled is evidence on it's own that there is a recession. Cos if there was plenty of other work many wouldn't go near a cab driver's job.

I think next year is going to be a slim one. :?

As for the current work situation, well I have a feeling 2008 ain't going to be vintage.

But I think if you have worked like a so and so, over Xmas and the New Year, it's going to be a lot less stressful during Jan and Fed than if you hadn't.
