Our town clock was knackered so it did not chime so I pulled up along side of the expectant crowed that had gathered and turned the cab radio full blast with the windows open just as big Ben stated to chime on radio 2

I hope you have your PRS license.

I've been thinking about that. :-k

I would say it doesn't apply to the taxi/PH trade, in the same way it doesn't apply to the people who turn their radios up in the park or on the beach.

Whereas it applies to the long iffy things because they offer seperate systems to the one the driver uses.

So there.

Look I haven't the foggiest clue what the exact law is in relation to performing arts money, nor do I give a diddly squat about it.

But Mr Logic says to me that if I'm playing my radio in my car then I'm doing it for the benefit of me. If other folks want to listen, then so be it.

But I decide what goes on, and my service is to take folks from A to B, not to gain out of my music.

Mr logic also says that if you are smoking in your own car then that is for the benefit of you but because it is a business vehicle Mr logic was wrong there as well.

Round here we are DEFINITELY in recession or is it just that the number of taxis working the town has Doubled in 8 years

I would say the fact that taxi numbers have doubled is evidence on it's own that there is a recession. Cos if there was plenty of other work many wouldn't go near a cab driver's job.

I think next year is going to be a slim one. :?

And you have all the 7 day contract vehicles now able to work any day on shorter trips which will also have an effect.

Well that's one avenue of thought, but on the brighter side we could gain loads more work from those that use to do it but now can't get licensed. :D

Most just didn't need to license. If you think that they can't get licensed then you are living in cloud cuckoo land.
