Taxi firms are being targeted in a crackdown in money laundering by the scottish goverment justice secretary kenny mcaskill will make it easier for councils to limit and block private hire cab firms after there details will be investigated by the serious organised crime taskforce in scotland. At the moment they can only be turned down if they hold a criminal record. But now the taskforce will dig deeper into all applications backgrounds. And also target tanning salons in this new blitz. glasgow sunday post. ABOUT BLOODY TIME .

Reading the article they are looking at capping PH numbers.
Office licencing would work better IMO

I'd agree with that if there was much stricter control over who can run an office and possibly licensing introduced for firms who operate all hackney fleets as well. I can think of one or two cab firms that might have never been allowed to be set up if that had been the case !

The thing is money laundering through cab firms is far more likely to be the owners/investors than the individual drivers
