Student jailed over rape lies
A teenager who accused a taxi driver of raping her has been jailed after a
mobile phone video captured her begging him for sex.
A-level student Seonad Campbell, 18, pleaded guilty to perverting the
course of justice and was given an eight-month sentence.
Her lie was uncovered when the driver showed police the video of
Campbell repeatedly asking for sex before he agreed
After her complaint, a taxi driver unconnected to the incident was wrongly
arrested on suspicion of rape.
Then his colleague was held for more than an hour until he produced the
video. Campbell, from Goole, East Yorks, was described at Hull crown
court as a girl who could not handle her drink. Anil Murray, defending,
said: "She has no memory of the taxi ride."
