ARMED robbers forced a Birkdale cab driver from his car at gunpoint, a local taxi boss has told the Visiter.
The experienced cabbie was left abandoned on a darkened dirt track after the terrifying raid on Tuesday – only a short distance from a similar reported robbery 10 days earlier.
Central Cabs co-owner Alan Campbell described how his employee heard the cocking of a handgun by the side of face, before the pair of young robbers demanded he step out of the vehicle.
Police have now launched an appeal for help over an attack that reportedly left the driver shaking with terror as the firm’s silver Ford Mondeo was driven off at speed.
Mr Campbell, 67, co-owner and partner in Central Cabs, said he now feared the vehicle – which he valued at £15,000 with its satellite-navigation equipment – would be found burned-out or used in a crime.
I don't know the bloke personally but I hope he recovers quickly and the [edited by admin] are caught pretty soon.
