check the pulse wire isn't loose

not wanting to sound daft where would we locate the pulse wire,we have the cab in and torches and lights at the ready

We had a similar problem in our Peugeot 406 with a different meter and the problem was with the speed sensor on the car.

Unfortunately there are several different ways to connect the pulse wire (normally yellow if I remember right). Where it is connected varies according to vehicle and fitter. First try the power plug attached to the back of the radio. In most modern motors pulse is supplied to one of the terminals there (for the type of radio where the volume goes up with vehicle speed, My VW has this pulse terminal, but not the fancy radio) many meter installers use this. Failing that, try near the gearbox or the back of the speedo. Also check ABS wires as I've seen those used as well.
Where ever it is attached it will be joined with a connector of some sort (electrical tape sometimes ) to another wire.

If it doesn't work or you cant find it, it's a trip to your meter man.

thanks for your help ,but its gone from bad to worse,now we have no power at all to meter so it looks like a wait until morning when we can have a proper look in the light and looks like we will have to take it to our meter man, parked up and not earning its bad enough here now for takings its just what we need right now

Have you checked the on line fuse, for power, the pulse wire is iether yellow or yellow and white

If you cannot sort it tonight please post what went wrong when its fixed

gusmac you were spot on our pulse wire was white and was indeed connected to the radio plug,same as you we dont use that 1,it was connected with a scotchloc which had come loose,last night in the dark trying to find it we must of disturbed the main power supply also connected with a scotchloc,weve renewed the connections and hey presto we have a working meter and back at the correct rate ,many thanks guys for your help ,its now time to get them wheels rolling

might be worth getting the connections soldered or the wires run to the fuse box

Yes, better get out and make up some of the dosh you lost yesterday. As Skippy says it may be worth soldering the connections so it doesn't happen again
