I can see the advantage of riding around in a luxury limo but a fire engine with compulsory seat belt provisions? I don't think so.

In Manchester We have a night club bus that collects passengers from around the city centre and up to four miles on the South side of town and takes them to a well known nightclub called Sankeys, free of charge. Its been going on for years and Manchester city council let it happen.

JD

Some of these fire engines that have had the water tank removed and fitted out in the back look quite good but there are no windows and I would think people would get quite claustrophobic in there. Not my cup of tea.

Fire engines are not my cup of T but I can see the novelty attraction for some women.

Is it the hats or the bells? I know most women like to ring a few bells and some even like to wear a fireman's helmet at Royal Ascot but I have a sneaking feeling that the real reason women like fire engines is because it is the only time they will get the opportunity to slide down a fireman's pole.

On the other hand, maybe they don't have poles inside fire engines? They certainly have them inside Plymouth private hire vehicles.

If it has more than 8 seats it is outside City council Jurisdiction.
If it is a licensed PSV it is perfectly legal if the club hire the vehicle direct from the operator (which may even be the club itself)

I suspect you are right, I forgot all about how attractive a hose can be to some ladies? lol

Its a good job I keep my hose under a tight lock and key.

You are quite right of course it has nothing whatsoever to do with the council. In my haste I completely forgot to substitute council for VOSA.

As far as I know it is not a licensed PSV. VOSA seem to have no record of the company being licensed but what I will do is take down the registration and have it checked out, just to make sure.

There's nothing like being accurate. Something I thoroughly recommend.

Does anyone know if any of those fire-engines has ever been passed by VOSA? :?

I don't know about PCV but several are licensed as private hire.

I can't recall saying that but you are forgiven. lol

I think Tulsablue might wish to lay claim that passage.

Fire engines are normally licensed for 8 people and under the 1976 act as novelty vehicles.

I don't think they would meet the required standard to operate as a bus.

JD
