Crosby taxi drivers help to find stolen vehicles

TAXI drivers rallied to find two vehicles that had been stolen from a house
in Waterloo.

Plumber Andrew Sharpe, 35, woke to find his Land Rover and a van
containing his tools had been taken by hook-and-cane thieves.

But the criminals made a mistake in stealing from a man with friends at
Delta Taxis.

His friend’s dad, Barry Martin, who works for the firm, radioed colleagues
to keep a look-out while on the road.

A driver spotted the Land Rover that evening while on a job in Kirkdale.

Andrew said: “They just kept their eye out and somebody had noticed the
Land Rover in Kirkdale.

“They phoned through and it came over the set to say that they had seen
the car.”

Barry went to Kirkdale and waited near the vehicle until Andrew turned up
with his spare keys.

Andrew then spotted the van parked in a nearby road – some of his tools
had been taken but most were still there.

The theft, which took place on Thursday, February 7, had been reported to
police and he called them again to tell them the vehicles had been found.

He said: “I’m over the moon. I can’t thank Delta Taxis enough – if it
wasn’t for Delta I’d still be looking now.

“I want to thank my family and friends – everyone wanted to lend me
stuff. People were phoning me up to say they had a drill and asking if I
wanted to borrow their car.”
