Rhyl taxi driver slashed for no reason
A TEENAGE thug who slashed a taxi driver across the face for no reason
was jailed for four years.
Shane Bamber, 18, had banged on top of the taxi as it passed him in a
street in Rhyl prompting driver Tony Machin to stop to check for damage.
Bamber ran towards him and as Mr Machin went to get back into the cab,
Bamber cut him across the face with a knife.
Mr Machin fell back into the taxi believing he had been punched, Mold
Crown Court was told yesterday.
Prosecutor David Mainstone told the court that from the amount of blood it
became clear that he had been cut with a blade.
Mr Mainstone said the incident happened at 11pm on August 3 in Ffordd
Las in Rhyl. Bamber was arrested 45 minutes later.
Bamber, of Mona Terrace in Rhyl, admitted a charge of wounding with
intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.
Simon Mintz, defending, said that Bamber had been 17 at the time and
very drunk. He was remorseful about what he had done
