I'm a Private Hire Driver in Cheshire in the North West..

There is no Private Hire Association in my area and the operators ride roughshod over the drivers.

I would be interested in suggestions on how to start an association. The attitude of a number of the operators is..'if you don't like it bring your radio in and go elsewhere'

The operators are not approachable when it comes to the rights of the drivers.

Given that the self employed have little or no rights what can the drivers do..

I don't know how the "National Private Hire Association" run by Mr Brian Roland operates because unlike the NTA and the GMBU, I've never actually seen an NPHA application form? I know the articles of memorandum are registered with the DfT but whether or not it will accommodate the model you are looking for is very much debatable?

Perhaps a member of the NPHA could enlighten us how they operate and in particular how their constitution is applied?

JD

It says "Operators" application form but there is no provision for single drivers or any type of individual driver whether owner or otherwise?

Does that mean the NPHA doesn't represent individual private hire drivers?

Does is also mean that the only National organisation for provincial private drivers is the GMBU or possibly the T&G?

I like this reference regarding BTEC training.

Liz Wadsworth, Elizabeth
Ann Travel, Tamworth;
also BTEC raining provider.
