Ten questions: Caroline Mein

Caroline Mein, 29, of Slateford, is an employment consultant at social inclusion organisation Working Links.

1 What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh?

Both my parents and grandparents honeymooned in Edinburgh, so I was brought up on stories and occasional visits. Later in life I remember visiting with a group of friends for the weekend and will never forget standing for hours in a taxi queue in the snow after a great night out.

If it snows in London, you'll stand for more than hours in a Taxi queue. Everything on the road, rail and air grinds to a halt.

I would say his / her memories are more attributed to the weather than taxi numbers.

We know how to deal with snow up here GBC, unlike some parts of England where, as you say, Everything on the road, rail and air grinds to a halt.

Having said that, the metrocab I used to have was useless in the snow and I don't suppose the other types of purpose built cab are any better.

Mine could go anywhere with land rover tyres even across Midleton Moore when it was closed, gave the plod a shock when i made it to Newtowngrange
