now there are some whispers going round the trade and its upsetting some drivers who ply for hire at York rail stn on permits

Rumours have started to be heard that it could be a grand [1000 quid] per year, but that’s not all, that’s just for one driver, if its double driven the other driver will also be charged a grand

Or that it could just be £750 per each driver

But what now has crept in, is that a PH firm from Leeds, could it be the Leeds /Bradford Airport mob have offered National Express £2500 per vehicle per year to trade at the York railway stn
Can this happen, is it legal ????

Yes its legal Stinky, If they take over the office all they have to do is issue from there, and as the rank is on private grounds allegedly the cars are free to park as they would be outside there office.
They could even cut there costs by getting there licences from Berwick

Private land so anything can happen, if the rail operators aren't happy with the current set up they'll out them no problem. You've only got to look at Watford Station, the hac lads on there were booted off by Silverlink because a PH firm came in with a golden carrot.

can any York driver on here tell me if there's a cost for the York Stn taxi driver badge photo ID to be issued to all drivers who buy a Stn permit, other than shelling out 4 quid for passport photos

i wonder who's clever idea that was, all stn drivers to wear two ID BADGES, that can be seen, one the Council badge and the other Stn Taxis badge

Yes, it is £18,000 a year, I can't see what else he does to earn his money.

so the York Stn taxi permit pass ID badge is now being worn by all permit holders, does this id badge take priority over the York city council taxi id badge ???, as the latter is not being worn now, York Stn taxis have their own taxi driver's id badge that must be worn at all times when working

It might seem a daft question but considering taxi drivers have to wear their badge at all times they are working then what purpose does a secondary badge serve? Do station taxis think the train travelling public will be bothered whether or not a taxi driver who picks them up has a secondary permit badge? If that's the sole aim of the exercise then I think it is totally misguided.

Regards

By law they have to wear their council issued badge.

The first time the council enforcement officer comes around, I would think the council badges will make a reappearence.

Out of interest, what is the "station charge" at York. In Plymouth, at the moment, we are allowed to put 40p on the extras for picking up from the station.

The reason I ask is the council are trying to get us to drop the station charge, which, of course, we feel is unfair, as we pay £65 p/w to a taxi firm that won the tender to use the station rank.

I think it's unfair to expect station users to pay for your office dues.

Maybe the price of the station permit, but no-more than that. :?
