Taxi Driver Online

Well after many years of thinking about it, but never going for it, I've signed up to the Com Cab radio circuit.

I do well working nights, but after years of being lucky, I'm going to let a computer terminal play a part in that. It seems, as with society in general, people are getting more [edited by admin] and I can't be arsed picking out the decent one's from the chav's anymore, so I'm turning my hand to the city account work.

They're doing me three free months sub's deal, then I'll pay £18 a week, plus a £1 a job. I'll try it, if it is'nt what it's made out to be, I can leave, no contracts, no fee's.
Over the years I've often listened to the politics / moans about some of the circuits, but one comment that's always been persistant, is that they (the drivers) would never not have a radio in their taxi's.

So, we'll see how it goes, there's a delay at the moment due to the new Digitax terminal being rolled out, but if it helps nick some work back from Stalin and co, then I guess I should give it a go.

What Com Cab do in other citys does'nt really concern me, every circuit in London has it's critics, but the critics remain on the system. If they're that bad, then drivers would leave.

We're lucky in London, the circuits are desperate for drivers, hence the cheap deals, I've survived very well for a long time without a terminal to talk to, street work at night is a plenty, and I'll do it again if needs be.

If they're crap, I'll have the system removed, but given one of their biggest accounts have regular trips out to Stevenage which is near where I live, I'll give them a go and see what happens.

Can you reclaim the £1.00 a lift from the punter, if not why throw the hard earned away

What happens if someone jumps in and wants to go to Manchester and a job comes in that only takes you round the corner
On top of your rental you could be paying over £200 per week if they are busy

You turn down the Comcab job, thats what.

The beauty of Comcab is you can turn it off when you don’t need it or when the ranks are busy and to a large extent you can pick and choose the type of work you want.

I pay about £65 per week all in and would say I get an average of £500-£600 worth of work from them per week. It's mostly taxicards in the Suburbs, not too many wheelchair jobs though.

I wouldn't be without it.

But I would love to be present when you get a two car job and the other one is a minicab.

I do alright on com cab as well, always seen me ok i have just had the terminal taken out ...so when i get me new sherbert il have the new terminal let me know what its like gbc

I was told today there's a 4 month waiting list. Is there something I should know about? Last month, and every month before that they were advertising like mad to attract more drivers?

When I joined 3 years ago they were " advertising like mad" I still had to keep chasing them up before they would process me.

As a yellow badge I wouldn't be without ComCab and it makes a big difference to my earnings, you greenies are busy enough anyway so I couldn't know whether it will work out for you or not.

My reasons are now leaning towards 'self preservation', opposed to 'trying it out'.
I, like everyone else in the country watch the current news and watch as yet another American bank goes under.
Having worked through the 92/93 recesssion, I know the Radio lad's kept their heads above the water, they were quieter but companies still needed taxi's, and card holders still needed their Taxicard rides.

I like my shorter working week, and hope a radio will go someway towards preserving that.
