Well they won't be using it through a Licensed Minicab company in London, the London law says they can't.

No roof signs, no plates, and certainly no signs that would make people think it was a Taxi.
So god only knows why anyone in London would want a Berwick plated Taxi.

But would he be exempt of the congestion charge as a Hackney Carriage, even from outside our smog infested capital city.

I know he would as the signs say taxis only, not where they come from :D

Well I'm not certain on that one, you would have to check the TFL website, I was under the impression out of town Taxi's came under the remit of the charge?

Beside's, for £80 you can register as a London Minicab, exempting yourself from the charge, minus silly signs and plates.

When this cropped up some time ago I said that if the signs didn't stipulate London cabs only then it meant any cab from any area.

However I don't think things are ever that cut and dried with the Livingstone administration so although it would suggest every licensed taxi is exempt I would temper that with the fact that London is a rather unique place.

Regards
