The DFT not only has its head buried in the sand but it also has its proverbial backside buried there too.

Any Government body that allows prehistoric legislation for mules and horses enacted in 1847 to prevail in the year 2008 is in my opinion woefully out of touch with reality.

What do you think?

Regards

JD

JD why not rewrite the rule book for the modern day and send them a copy.
Place a copy on here so we can all debate it. and rectify any potential problems and loopholes before its sent.
I will start with the wish list.
1, get ride of the turning circle as its outlived its purpose

Every vehicle has a turning circle, old bean, even the Airbus 320 has a turning circle. Even the International Space Station has one. Why not just "wish" for LTI to be got rid of, if that is what you are alluding to?

The problem is Jimbo that the Government doesn't insist that all planes require a turning circle of x amount of feet?

I beg to differ. The CAA set very tight criterea for commercial aircraft using British airports.

I know this may sound a bit simplistic, and I have made this suggestion before ........................ but wouldn't the simple answer be to enact the London Private Hire Act accross the whole of England and Wales.

It seems to me that the major problems surrounding the industry are not because of the 1847 Act but because of the 1976 Act and 1985 Act andthe legislation regarding PH services.

This would be able to be enacted in a very short timescale, where rewriting legislation for all aspects of the trade will take many years.

Number 2 on the wish list, get rid of PH altogether, this would save on anymore confusion :D

I think the pen pushers would love a change, it's just that ministers can't see many votes in amending taxi laws.

Maybe the unions should be mandated by their members to lobby the gov to change their view.

So discuss TAXIS Mr Skippy. What turning circle do you wish to see abolished, and why?

I googled nanon, thanks for the complement.
