Isn't this connected with EU legislation that stipulated tachographs have to be fitted in buses used on services over 31 miles? It would appear this company has not had tachographs fitted and that is why it is in this situation but I'm sure the bus operators on here will explain the situation accurately.

Regards

JD

Norman Baker, the Liberal Democrats' transport spokesman, said: "These rules don't stop buses running more than 30 miles.

"All they do is inconvenience passengers who have to keep getting on and off."

If this comment is not indicative of the way politicians play around with peoples livelihoods then I don't know what is. He seems to miss the point that without the passengers there would be no point in running the bus in the first place.

Can you imagine a scenario where your customer wanted to travel into the next licensed area and you had to arrange to meet a licensed vehicle from that area at the boundary to swap them over, it beggars belief.

OMG what have I just suggested

I think JD has it right, he doesn't want to fit tachos in the buses so he is restricted to what he can do.

Tacho's are only measuring devices.

Meters are measuring devices.

It could be argued that most modern meters are capable of acting as a tacho.
