how do councils set there fees. are they allowed to profit from them ?

Not allowed to profit, and if a surplus is made then it should be spent over the next year(s).

how come a CRB check is £35 yet if i ask for my own records off the police its only £10?

and medicals, ive just paid £115 for mine, must be NHS occy health - will be same as a HGV medical, which i found online/flying doctor for £45

The CRB price is set by the government, not by your council.

Convictions/cautions etc are never spent for anyone driving a taxi or PH. :shock:

A CRB check also includes Stuff that you may have done but have not been convicted of which wont show up on your record.
