After sending an email to a historian I know he sent me this link,
He has photos of every mansion or stately house in the UK

Lol, I've been there too, 1985. Met Prince Charles at the garden centre!

Floors was was also used in the filming of the modern Tarzan. Image

Too far North, the picture I have was filmed around London somewhere, if anyone's intrested it's for a film location 'now and then' website.

Nope. Problem is there must be hundreds of these big houses which are closed to the public dotted around London and the home counties. It may even be a hotel or school nowadays.

I'll let everyone know when he finds it.

Was it a test? Did someone know the answer all along or was it a genuine enquiry? Why did they need to know?

There's no need to call us Berks, just because we didn't know where it was.

It was a genuine enquiry, it's for a (cough) film location 'then and now' website relating to Thames TV productions.
