Anne McElvoy of the London Evening standard has said on Sky News that the information they received from both political camps suggest that Boris Johnstone is the new Mayor of London. The official result is not due until around 8-30 this evening.

Regards

JD

The question will be did Boris win it for Boris, did Ken lose it for Ken, or did Gordon lose it for Ken? :?

Sorry? Did someone say Boris won? Does that mean the socialist dictator's out?

:D

But that means no Bus lanes for the Minicabs!

Never mind! :D

I might apply for the Taxi driver position on the TFL board.

I more looking forward to you know who's reaction, that'll be more enjoyable than seeing the Socialist Dictator pack his bags.

Strangely enough it's gone even quiter that usual over on their forum.

A good day for the trade, and according to the Evening Standard was partly down to the voice of 25'000 London Taxi drivers.

GBC has ordered his E7 already :D

..1. Scrap the midyear inspections which add to the cost of the licence, and are an unnecessary burden on cab drivers.

2. Scrap PCO Notice 44/06 which penalises cab drivers for stopping at red routes to allow passengers to use cashpoints and WCs.

3. Work with local councils to make rules on using bus lanes the same across London.

4. Give a representative of the taxi trade a place on the TfL Board.

5. Keep a distinct separation between black cabs and minicabs.

Boris said:

"London's taxi drivers are an institution and work hard to earn the right to drive on our Capital's streets. I do not believe in trying to wreck their trade in the way that Mayor Livingstone has been doing over the last eight years. I want to ensure London's taxi drivers can get on with their job of helping Londoners get around town."
