Well the press release is at best mis-leading as the extra 15 plates is the minimum case law will allow to be added. Councillors really have no say in that matter.

But all this still doesn't address the pedicab issue.

I have email your council with JD's up to date records, of which councils still restrict, and informed them of the new European laws that are being discussed and that they must licence saloons as well
And that the DFT is still waiting for councils to bring in the best practice, before they force them to do so

And how are the DfT going to force councils to do anything they do not want to?

And how would you fairly and equitably introduce a mixed fleet Skippy?

How many owners do you know who have, or would, voluntarily put on a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, when they are not required to do so?

Enough to satisfy a council who wishes to introduce them?

Would YOU, (yes YOU Skippy,) put on a WAV if you did not HAVE to?

We dont have any here, there is a company disability assist that does the lot

But a fairer way of bringing in a mixed fleet would be to introduce prime site ranks for WAV's only, just like Lincoln City Council wanted to, back in 1994?

Or/and higher licence fees for non-wavs, say £2,000 a year, with WAV's zero rated.

That would level the playing field, and bring in more WAV's for those millions of wheelchair bound folk out there who are desperate for the services of accessible transport?

As I stated in my last post we dont have any wavs in my area, but a company called disability assist does all wheelchair work, I dont know if they have to work under hire and reward but there are no plates showing.
Now if there was a company within every area that only did wheelchair work that would leave the taxis to be saloons or mpv's and we would not have all this carry on of you must have one if we say so by councils

I'm not sure of the exact numbers but I think there are about 10% WAVs. The bigger company's have a couple each and the ones with the WAVs work together by passing WAV jobs between each other. All very civilised in these parts.

And if your council said it wanted to see a mixed fleet, say 25% WAV Hackney Carriage, you would decide who should have one by drawing short straws, or what method?

If the council insisted that there must be some wavs owners would just pull out, we do not have the earning power that is available in the cities or larger towns, I dont think anyone here has paid any more than 10k for a cab, 1 or 2 have bought new but after a few months they have had to hand them back as they could not make the payments.
If anyone takes over £400 per week its like winning the lottery here

Oh right, so you've no limit on the number of cabs then?
