If the good people of TDO have a spare minute could they please sign this e-petition?

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/48776

And pass it on to anyone who may wish to add their names to it.

well I've signed thin end of the wedge etc. our council still hasn't dropped the proposals for the 20mph zone in our town centre

So come on all on here this might be in a remote part of the country but stop it here and maybe other councils will think twice

Travelling at 20MPH and gearing down all the time because the dullard in front is in 1st gear and running at 20,000 RPM emits more harmful gasses than travelling at 60MPH in 6th gear at 1,800RPM.

Actually no because slowing down wastes fuel by running the engine inefficiently running at 28 to 30mph in 4th gear is generally a lot more economical and reduces CO2 emissions

The council originally stated that this policy reduces pollution and increases road safety.

The pollution bit went out of the window when the council's own boffins said it would increase pollution.

The road safety bit is also rubbish, and the DfT study into a similar policy in Portsmouth proved exactly that. That study showed the number of pedestrians and pedal cyclist killed or seriously injured increased by 38% and 11% respectively.

i think the idea is to cut down on pedestrian injury rather than green issue an the main road should stay 30mph an only side road will be 20mph an area where lots of people

If they looked before they crossed there wouldn't be any injuries would there?
