Seeing that name mentioned in the legal section reminds me of my days when I ran a bus company in Mitcham, Surrey. My company was the largest sub-contractor for Connex (remember them?) for rail replacement buses.

Then along came Fraser Eagle who tried to persuade connex that THEY should be the ones to deal with. They had thousands of coaches and taxis all over the country on standby. They spoke to me and outlined their plans to "take over" all the rail replacement in the south of England. Luckily connex, in one of their few moments of wisdom, decided to have nothing to do with Fraser Eagle and told them to fly away.

About that time, FE was being discussed in the bus trade press and privately. It was felt that they's grown too big, too quickly and they were in "trouble". A couple of years later, after they'd spent millions on a new HQ, they finally flew the nest completely, owing bus and coach operators many millions of £££s. They of course had been paid by the train operators. They owed my company nothing as we never done any work for them, nor did most others in the south.

we were asked several times to sign up with them BUT in the past we did work for central trains and never got paid the paperwork and invoices always went missing so I was not prepared to do work providing replacement rail services Fraser eagle may have gone bust but National Express who were just as bad got away with it and are still with us
