Jimbo, I know it's a long thread, with lots of material, but I did say the photo evidence elsewhere suggests that the sign above is a one-off rather than every sign in the area using 'ADVANCED' rather than 'ADVANCE'.

So maybe it's 'It says' rather than 'They say'

...on the other hand, even the likes of Mogo uses ADVANCED.

As in, "Give your taxi service a professional edge with MOGO UK's Custom Taxi Door Signs"

Presumably Mogo takes the generic approach to the t-word, but you'd think they wouldn't, particularly given the significance of the t-word as regards signage on PHVs
