Yet again we find that the new E7 still having problems with the sliding doors.
My cab not even 7000 miles on the clock and twice requiring attention.
Due to problems booking into appointed gagrage and cannot afford to be off the road, had it fixed at my own expense from local garage.
Why lie and say no more problems with these doors, when there still is.
Comment from any other cabby,or more so Cab Direct.

You will always get problems with the sliding doors no matter what cab you buy, the mechanism will not stand the amount of banging and slamming they get, the lads in Mansfield have the same problem with their doors, some are only a few months old. I take no notice of what Cab Direct or Jubilee say about their doors a sliding door is a bad door.

yes weve identified a solution we hope, we took the doors off and fixed up a mechanism wherby the doors become driver controlled, rather like buses

still under test will let you know how we go on.

Same as they said to the lads in Mansfield Andy, take them to the local Dixons who are the pug dealers and they will sort it. Take them up there, sorry mate it's not our problem it's a conversion, ask the company who converted it to repair it.

I think this could well have been a response from Cab Direct, but it is certainly from one of the professional converters.

The solution solves the problem for those buying new vehicles but not for those who have already bought. We have a good few E7's up here and I haven't heard of any problems to date, but on saying that the public up here have been educated over a few years on how to operate these doors properly.

Maybe if Mr Guests company were to offer a cheap door conversion, further discounted for those who have already bought a vehicle from them their reputation would be improved. Those Chrysler Voyagers have automatic doors and they seem to work very well.

the response is from a taxi driver, who studies problems and comes up with solutions.

one of the problems with cab direct is their conversions are done to a budget of two thirds the cost of purpose built to match the two thirds of running costs

now Nige says they are crap his mate implies they are good, they are what they are.

there is a solution to the door problem, Nige has not studied that solution and has already regected it, thats the problem with our trade, we do that all the time.

its one of those trades where we atract the chancers our turnover of labour is massive, there is a solution to that as well but Nige has rejected that as well without studying it.

but next week he could be off to Watford lobbying for that which hes rejected.

What a very weierd world

I did say that firstly the E7's I know of don't seem to have the problems defined.

I also said that we have 2 Chrysler Voyagers operating as PH, both of these vehicles have automatic sliding doors and they both work very well indeed.

Maybe if the "guest" poster had identified himself as a driver my asumption that it was a response from a converter would never have been made.

Automatic doors are, I imagine, as suseptable to fault as manual doors. Nidge's concerns therefore are worthy of note as a large number of the people we carry are for whatever reason incapable of following simple operating instruction, even if thats just "sit still and the door will close itself".

I dont know what you call automatic doors, the ones I refer to are not they are strictly driver controlled, the driver opens them the driver closes them.

thats what I said, thats what I meant.
