Taxi Consultation

Are you happy with the taxi services in Newbury and West Berkshire? West Berkshire Council, the authority that licenses local taxi firms, is seeking the views of local people regarding local taxi services. Brian Leahy, the Council's Senior Licensing Officer, said: "It's six years since the last review and times and needs change."
The Council suggests a number of questions that people might have opinions on: "Are there enough taxis? Are they the right type of vehicle? Are they readily available at the right times? Are they easy to identify? Are they easy for all to use, for example, those with restricted mobility, the elderly, the infirm, or those with a disability?"

A leaflet has been produced, to assist this public consultation exercise, entitled 'Be Safe - a taxi information leaflet'. Copies can be obtained from West Berkshire Council and have also been distributed to local libraries.
In order to be taken into account, any comments or views have to be sumbitted to the council before 31st January 2005.
