It's not the car, it's how its how it has been looked after.

anyway, back to the OP, does Harrogate or York have any enforcement staff these days to worry about a triviality of a phone number? As others have said, in these days of computer technology, the law is not fit for purpose, so if I was nicked doing that, I'd be making that point in court.

with a York PH plate on a York ops licence and pre-booked work (booked via the York phone number) your doing nothing wrong picking up in harrogate

he did originally - at his mothers! lol

a York PH can legally take a Harrogate booking, a 0800 number to York is the obvious answer, or a cyber-number that isnt a Harrogate code....

i realize this and that is why people like me cant wait for full deregulation so all areas can be worked on a level playing field so people use who they would like to be carried by then it all boils down to service i know if i set up with a mercedes e class in harrogate i will run rings round the opposition because of the rule that your car has to be under 5 years old in harrogate all the cars are ex rep mondeos vectras with hugh miles they can then run them till they are 9 years old i went in to town the other day (harrogate) and the ranks look scruffy most of the cars look worn out and scratched dinted etc take that in comparison to york where there is no age limit and the ranks are full of beautiful clean older mercedes which proves my point that capping ages does not work plus all i hear from the drivers of mondeos vectras etc is clutch, flywheel, fuel pumps, and all manner of problems i have run mercedes e class mercs for 22 years with very little going wrong with them why would i want to join this gang i have a saying would you watch television on a park bench no of course not yet a lot of people will run park benches as taxis its all beyond me

Like a lot of others you want something for nothing, deregulation will give you a free plate, why don't you do like everyone else and buy one. when and if we are deregulated there will be too many for anyone to make a living, why not change your ways and do things by the book for once.

i dont want a free plate the last thing on my mind is becoming a hackney all i want is to be able to use my mercedes to pick people up wherever i like and advertise wherever i like you can stick your hackney plates because like everyone else who bought one in york it is wrong i think plates should be issued to those who want them one plate one person no renting no drivers i have had many chances to buy plates for not a lot of money and never taken up the offers if i thought plates in york were worth anywhere near the ridiculous prices they are asking for then i would buy one

2 Sides of the coin

Side one you should be able to offer a service to anyone

Side two if the price is discounted just to knock off the competition the drivers become slaves,

TBH there has never been any issue anyway, if a man from Sheffield wants hs favorite firm from Leeds to pick him up that is his right as a customer, but actively touting new custom in another area is a no no imo.

i have never felt the need to discount my fares in the cotswolds i was actually 20 percent more expensive than anyone else on airport runs but they travelled in a mercedes and my time keeping was impeccable the cars was always immaculate and i dressed in trousers and shirt with the company logo on it worked because i had more airport runs than most of my competitors people will pay for a better service

carefull in the use of the word "touting", what exactly do you mean?

A newspaper? website? cards?..........hanging about on street corners like a hack?

phone app? http://www.cab4me.com/

the OP could join the likes of quoteme and just bid on Harrogate work

i live at the meeting point of FOUR counties (hence 4 LA's too), in the village lives a HC not plated by the LA covering the village, he advertises in the village magazine

should i report him?...........course not, my website is wordlwide, should a Nottingham hack report me? no, but if a Nottingham-swansea job was emailed id quote on it

we arent parish-locked farm labour like 150 years ago!
