Gusmac, I have no problem with lowering the drink drive limit per se. As long as the decision to make the change is supported by evidence. MacAskill suggests that thirty deaths each year could be cut to fifteen simply by lowering the limit. That suggests that if you had a zero limit, there would be no deaths due to alcohol. So why not go for the full thirty instead of settling for fifteen? It’s just plain stupid.

I agree. The measure is perfectly sensible. The figure quoted is without foundation, but it does make a good sound byte.

Of course if they ban cars and road transport in general this will save 186 lives per year in Scotland.

Exactly......it seems to me the scottish government have proved to be lacking in their explanation, and the press havent done a job that you managed in a few mouse clicks......end result no story.
