People who use these technologies want response fast, hence the direct relationship between driver and customer. No filter or queue system to slow it down.
Because we can't quantify or guarantee numbers, is why its free to get into it, with no ties or committments. You only pay when you gain.

Fast response? you say drivers can turn it off when they like, your app customers are going to be very disappointed on a fri and sat night and they will stop using it

cant quantify numbers ect, means your have done zero research, have no idea what percentage of the market you will gain or how much actual new work you will create

Basically your making it up as you go along

sounds like you have not got a scooby doo mate

Like Reggie im out

Well I don't work the trade in Edinburgh but it is clearly something very special and different to every other major city in the Uk. I do however see the potential for the apps but as ph it is unlikely to generate much more work for me but it will certainly keep the punters that we have, who embrace technology, very happy indeed and stop them going to the likes of cabapp etc. So keeping my customers happy, priceless  Knowing that taxi drivers don't like change and certainly don't like paying somebody they perceive unworthy cos they don't work the trade one penny for anything is predictable. However what I don't understand is if you sign up and don't use it it costs nothing, if a job comes in that is too far away you don't have to take it and there are cheaper apps than time2taxi so what exactly is the problem in trying them out?

Exactly, what is the problem ?theres nothing to loose trying it,and if i get more work happy days :D
What is clear from the responses are that its competition to those paying for radio hire. And i can understand that.
But truth is nothing is upfront and it can be used or not used as the user pleases, and they can decline if the job dosent suit.
The Edinburgh tariff also allows the driver to add a 60p callout fee to the meter, so for me that imo means i add 40p only to pay the server or nothing for cabapp.
Theres as much possibility the consumer would have phoned phc otherwise.
Theres still not been much response from anyone using it, If i use it and its good i may keep quiet about it

Why do people keep harping on about not embracing new technology? We have embraced it. We've beaten this latest app by the better part of a year in rolling out our own app and it's great. The point is that we are a local cooperative generating local business, most of our earnings are ploughed back into the local economy. Why should we have to subscribe to an app that is going to dilute our collective earnings and take money out of the local economy?

Why because some of us dont want to pay £1 to Time2taxi or cabapp

None of the app salesman have came on here and said how much extra work if any it will transfer over from the ph

You would think they would at least have had some figures ready to quote

Whats to stop these guys selling out to the PH at a later date

The app in my opinion will not work, its faceless, and the 1st busy weekend in Edinburgh it will fall flat,

I can just imagine the same being said of 2 way radio 50 years ago.

You don't have to. That, I think is the point.

Nor me, but I suspect neither of us were driving a cab then. Hell, I wasn't even a randy thought back then

People can want whatever, doesn't mean they'll get it.
If it works, drivers will use it and if it doesn't they wont. Either way it's no loss to the driver.

It doesn't.

Thinking about it.

I don't pay a radio circuit anyway. Too many fed fucks, arse lickers and piss takers for my liking. Every office is the same.

That's not why I think it is clearly something very special and different to every other major city in the Uk.

Lets say you're travelling along a main road empty and in a side road near by somebody wants a taxi and they have the app on their phone...... I'll let you figure the rest out

what would they do if the did not have the app

If the customer is looking for a hack, in Edinburgh they are going to call for one or stick out there hand and that wont cost us £1

As hacks we a sharing the work anyway, the app would have to bring in stacks of more work from the ph for it to make any real to difference to wages over a year

The main point im trying to make is we will being paying £1 for each job of the app when in one or another we would have got the job anyway.and not paying the pound, im assuming the person using the app was looking for a hack.

Just to make it clear the operators of the app will score £1 for each job the edinburgh hack trade will lose a £1

Phone a taxi or a PH

Quite likely the customer isn't giving a schecht if it's a hack or a PH. If they're warm and cosy where they are, why would they go and walk to somewhere they can stick out their hand?

If it gets big enough, the people who need to worry are the ones running radio circuits - hack or PH.
In the meantime, it's just a few extra jobs for the guys paying 50p a go for the privilege.

You're assuming the customer knows a number to ring, doesn't have an app and knows where to go to flag one down and indeed wants to go outside in the cold and the wet and take their chances. You clearly don't need anymore work or you're very happy with the circuit you are on if you are indeed on a circuit, that being the case the app is not for you, simples :D If it's guarantees you want you're in the wrong trade
