The trade in Edinburgh, in particular, seems hellbent on treating customers as a commodity, to be sold on; as just a cash cow from whom to harvest cash; and who exist to serve the needs of the trade. This is wholly contrary to every tenet of commercial reality which is for the customer to come first. For the trade to recognise that only by providing the best, most cost effective and readily available service can it win the respect of its customers and encourage them to use the service, which they patently don't.
Which trade Jasbar??? the taxi trade??? The respect of customers.......they dont care. All they want is to be taken from A to B from a licensed taxi. Some want a quality service (city cabs) and others are concerned with price so they use PH.

The council has just delivered the results of another bogus survey. And lo and behold, once again, it got the answer it wanted. It maintains its restriction which negates every tenet of commercial fairness, and will maintain a shortage of taxis to ensure that a plate premium will remain for those privileged to "own" one, and so they can sell it on with with the council's tacit agreement, despite the fact that the Law says licences are NOT TRANSFERRABLE.
A professional survey is done and because it doesnt agree with you its bogus. And that very non transferrable part which is ignored has worked in the favour of some such as you by selling free plates. How to bite the hand that feeds.....

Throughout my time on the forum I have attempted to articulate real and serious argument about the politics of the taxi trade, and sought to address the issues from the perspective of the drivers, whose fundamental rights are ignored by the council, and the main taxi firms as well as the principle private hire companies.
And you believe this??? You just post the same stuff again and again and are unwilling to take any other viewpoint into account. Some drivers are thankful the owners take the financial risks to enable drivers to earn a living.

No doubt Alex has recognised this, and I can see the owners' concerns that they would ultimately be held responsible for any defamatory comment made by the yahboo brigade, and they have taken the action they have.
But it remains illogical to me to subsume intellectual debate indiscriminately with the yahboo brigade's tripe, to not be selective, rather than just excise their vitriol, and them, from the site completely.
You are one of the worst for vitriol. Its only your narcissistic personality that stops you from seeing this.

(A good first step would be to publish their email addresses to allow action to be taken against them. Indeed shouldn't that be a condition of posting on the site anyway?)
Action???? Please phone Police Scotland and inform them that no agrees with your poorly thought out ideas online. Un plug sir might be their answer or they might even have you sectioned.

The lot of hard pressed cabbniggrs remains; they are still as severely oppressed by those who control the trade, their labour exploited by Scotland's 21st century robber taxi barons, aided and abetted by our politicians and a disgrace to a nation that needs to mature well beyond its current state before it can even begin to consider it is able to determine its own future.
You could always find another job where you're not going to be oppressed. Your use of cab...... is appalling. You're offensive and i think at heart not a nice person. And only you could link independence, the rise of the majestic SNP and the taxi trade.

I, and others, will continue to take the fight to the council. We are engaged in an interesting project now which if it comes to fruition will be publicised through the press rather than this forum. But that's for the future.
Good luck with that. Thankfully you're a buffoon who thinks by having a daily article in the letters section of the Edinburgh Evening news this has somehow made you a celebrity and a voice to be respected and listened to.

Meanwhile I see no point other than to leave the forum to the yahboo brigade, so that they may demonstrate to the world just how unfit these individuals are to be involved with the hard pressed Edinburgh public and to hold the licences they apparently do.
Everything is everyones else's fault. You go on and on like some angry teenager. I just think life hasn't panned out for you like it should have with that ego you've got. You see this forum as a platform to demonstrate your intelligence when in fact you just end up sounding unhinged like Anders Behring Breivik.
