Twenty five quid a year to join?
You can run a forum for free on proboards.
Subs. are not finalised, yet, if it was just a forum, yes we would offer it free fill it with ads and let it run itself, apart from a bit of moderation.
A car club with paid subscriptions has more to offer. It gives a personal identity for the car owners and can also be a very sociable focus for people with similar interests. With a club, we are also in a position to negotiate with suppliers, venues, insurers, etc. In fact we are already well on the way to negotiating with a couple of Insurance Companies which will save members far more than their membership subs. A couple of venues has offered a place for meets etc. Other discounts for parts and accessories are being sort. etc
I would not expect anyone to pay to join just a forum, but a club where the benefits out way the subs. and a site full of useful info, help and the latest news and events.Yes I would.
Somewhere to get to know new friends with a similar interest, where we can have a say in organising events, help in forming local groups, swap stories, swap parts, swap advice. Yes I would.
The Fairway is not just some of the best motoring fun you can have, It is an icon, a classic. It needs preserving as much if not more than any classic car. It also needs a club.
Hosting, admin, site building, site maintenance, virus protection, the usual Car Club badges, certificates, membership cards, postage, labour etc. etc. needs funding, we have set £25 as a reasonable annual sum, this may go up but more probably down depending upon final costs when membership opens in a couple of months time.
We would be foolish to start a club that could not maintain itself and even more foolish to start one for Fairways without Baconsdozen, so what if anything would you members here pay, if they were a private Fairway owner and enthusiast?
