PMSL

Two short lanes of taxis, adjacent to two lanes of private hire, all in the same concourse. A line of passengers wending their way, needing to be directed at every turn, because no-one knows what is happening.

The latest wheeze in the airport's scheme to extract the last penny from customers leaving it's domain, leaves customers being herded towards their hire car.

It's just what the Skull said long ago, they are being sold on as a commodity to the highest bidder, to be fleeced and stripped of any dignity. Skull got it right!

It strikes me that the only dignity accorded here will be through private hire. Because ECPH will meet their customers at their desk, help with luggage and direct their customers to their cars. They will be greeted in the concourse, luggage will be stowed by the staff, doors will be opened, customers settled in the car, and they will be made to feel special, and at a price that doesn't rip them off.

All while a snake-like chain of the public are being herded towards hacks, whose drivers won't even get off their ers e to assist their cash cow punters.

Our taxi service in Edinburgh is a complete disgrace. And the council includes customer service in its training regime too.

Which is why Edinburgh is now Planet ECPH.

=D>

Yes jumbo. Your correct in everything you say. Ecph has the lion share of the work and directing customers to their corivate cars etc etc

Oh no, wait a minute. It was more like 40 or 50 taxis getting a job to every 1 ECPH. Ach well, it was only the first day!

The airport scenario is a hoot with hire cars.

Customers queuing up while cars are stuck at the barrier while ad driver goes to the machine to pay his shekels to the airport.

City Cabs personnel scurrying around desperately trying to control drivers, and direct the stream of customers to a car.

This is not a quality or professional service. Just an obvious attempt to manipulate customers to harvest cash from them.

Visitors' first impression of Edinburgh has to be poor.

just another example of Councillors allowing our city to go down the toilet.

I don't know nor care anything about Edinburgh City Council or Edinburgh airports Taxi/PH Political machinations, But I agree with you, Its a poor at best, It never used to be so bad, I guess I should be thankful as I've picked up some extra runs through Customer confusion or dissatisfaction.

They Just seem to clog the place up with their own confusion.

Precisely why the trade is rife with protectionism, workers are exploited and individuals' fundamental rights are routinely breached.

Because the herd just does not care.
